Daniel 2:20-23 Explained
Daniel answered and said, Blessed be
the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:
And he changeth the times and the
seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the
wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:
He revealeth the deep and secret
things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.
I thank thee, and praise thee, O
thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known
unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the
king's matter. Daniel 2 :20-23 (KJV)
Praise The Lord Everyone. I hope you all are doing well
under the mighty hand of our Lord. We will see detailed explanation of the
verse by verse of Daniel 2:20-23.
Why Daniel 2:20-23 Prayer:
Nebuchadnezzar had a dream and he got
troubled in his spirit. But he forgot the dream so he asked wise man to tell
the dream and its meaning. But no one was able to reveal the dream and it’s
secrete. So king summoned that all the wise man to be killed. Because of this
Daniel prayed a prayer in Daniel 2:20-23 which we will discuss in detail.
Wisdom & Might in Daniel 2: 20
Here Daniel Start his prayer by blessing the
Lord. Daniel mentions that God has Wisdom and Might. Whatever belongs to God
same things He wants His children to have. That means we are entitled to have
Wisdom and Might. Who is the source of all wisdom? Wisdom is nothing but Jesus
Christ Himself. Because of wisdom one can reveal the secrets. So here Daniel
praising God to have wisdom and he wants that wisdom to reveal the secret.
Time in Hand Daniel 2:21
Time belongs to God. God is not outside of
time but time is inside of God and God is outside of time. God Himself has
created time for this universe to work. Daniel praises God that he can change
time and season. Because Daniel wants to know the dream of a king which has happened
in past. Daniel wants to go back in time and get to know the dream.
From this point of time God starts to reveal
the dream to Daniel, because Daniel prayed God removes the King and sets up the
King. In the dream of Nebuchadnezzar he
saw the statue which represent all the kingdoms of the world. So Daniel in his
spirit got to know the exact picture what the king has saw.
As Daniel get to know about the dream of
king he started praising God that he gives wisdom to wise people and knowledge to
those people who knows understanding. Daniel had wisdom knowledge and
understanding.
Secret things in Daniel 2:22
In the previous verse Daniel got to know
about the dream but still the interpretation of the dream is pending. So Daniel
praises God that He reveals the secret things and knows what is in darkness.
After this Daniel prayed to put Light on the dream so that he will get
interpretation of the dream.

Daniel prayed that Light dwells with the Lord.
As soon as he prayed for Light the interpretation
of the dream was revealed to Daniel and the secret of the dream was opened.
Thanking God in Daniel 2:23
Finally in this prayer Daniel starts
thanking God for revealing the dream and its interpretation to him. He thank
God for giving him wisdom and might.

Whatever Daniel desired God has revealed
it to him and He got complete dream and its interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar
King dream.
Summary from Daniel 2:20 -23
What might God we serve who has wisdom and
power. In order to pray like Daniel we must do following things.
First (Daniel 2:20) we have to bless the
Lord and praise him for the things what He has. Like Daniel wanted wisdom and
might to stand before king. So he blesses the Lord and praise God to have wisdom
and might. Same way if you want healing then praise God that He is a Healer or
If you are in debt then praise God that He is the source of wealth. Etc…
Second (Daniel 2:21) thing proclaim what
God is capable of doing. Praise Him what He has done in past and what all
things He has.
Third (Daniel 2:22) thing God will reveal to
you about your situation and he will start giving answer to your prayer
immediately. Only thing is that you have to be focused and tune to God’s Voice.
Fourth (Daniel 2:23) thing give thanks to
God for answering your prayer. Give thanks specifically to the problems that he
has solved in your life.
Prayer from Daniel 2:20-23
Dear God thank you for the scripture what
you have given to us. Help us to pray like Daniel and give us wisdom and might.
Reveal the secret things to us so that we can be victorious in all the field.
